CS Games 2019 @ Polytechnique Montreal

CS Games 2019 @ Polytechnique Montreal

11 November 2018

We are in 2003. The version 2.6 of the linux kernel makes its long-awaited appearance on the market. Linux followers can no longer wait to use the revolutionary new feature : parallelizing an infinite number of virtual threads. Shortly after this release, the very first edition of the CS Games is held at McGill University. The organization, wishing to take advantage of this new kernel, sets up a low level competition to explore this new feature.

Participants are given the list of all the universities in the world. The goal is for each team to create a single thread, able to interact with those of the other teams. Unfortunately, the unthinkable occurs during the competition: The interaction between each of the threads has altered space time continuum. Each university is now in its own parallel universe. The Council finds itself in the starting universe and has control of all the universe-ities.

Initially, the Council believed that the situation was ideal for different competitions and the expansion of the event. Happier than ever to receive this news, they make their universe a true paradise and its HQ a luxury cruise where all of your deepest desires are possible. They named this nirvana : the CS Paradise.

Since the creation of universe-ities,  in each edition of the CS games the Council docks the CS Paradise in the universe of the organizing committee to host the games.

But the truth is, the universes of universities are in total chaos. The students, citizen of those universes, are full of hatred, resentment and jealousy towards each other,  the tension is at the highest it’s ever been . After 16 editions of the CS Games and an endless universe-ities war, the universes are crumbling and a solution must be found.

In the Polytechnique universe, the guardians of the summit of Mont-Royal were bestowed with a premonition: The solution to reunite the universe-ities. Given the enormous power of this information and fearing that the one who holds it will misuse it, the guardians divide the solution into several insurmountable puzzles. The puzzles are then given to trustworthy members of Polytechnique.

After many tries, the trustworthy members realize that they will not be able to solve the puzzles on their own and contact the Council for advice. The Council wanting to unite the worlds at the Polytechnique universe for the 17th edition of the CS games decide to make the participants find the solutions to their problem. The Winners will be the ones who have provided the most input to save all the universes. They will thus be crowned leader of the united universe resulting in the fusion of all threads.

Participants are invited aboard the CS Paradise to compete in various competitions to bring together the universe-ities.
